When a store sources a generic from a secondary supplier at a higher acquisition cost, that delta can — depending on how the chain's pricing logic is configured — flow through to the consumer-facing price, at least temporarily. In the interim, patients filling during the elevated-cost window pay more than those who happen to fill before or after it.
